I am pretty sure I worked for this company before…

January 27, 2012. 1.

McSweeney’s Internet Tendency: New Hire Form Letter For the Modern American Worker.:

Our staff consists of many talented former professionals who were unfortunately laid-off without warning during the financial collapse: surgeons, engineers, educators, pilots, medical technicians. We understand that you might consider this new position somewhat of a “downgrade,” both financially and mentally; that screwing metal pieces together is “mindless labor.” But we think your skills will prove invaluable considering the number of hands accidentally severed off in our factory. Perhaps you could invent new prosthetic limbs or concoct an amazing super drug that prevents workers from ever falling asleep. Who knows? Don’t be shy. Be creative! IMPORTANT NOTE: Please know we cannot offer additional compensation for these services. You wouldn’t pay an office’s designated Fire Marshall for his or her volunteer work, would you?

We encourage growth and career advancement through our “Spread Your Wings”™ program. Many of the upstanding gentlemen carrying whips and prodding tired laborers awake started at this company in the same position as you find yourself today. With a bit of hard work and offering turn-coat information about secretive organized revolts, you too can work your way to the top of the food chain.

But that’s only the latest in a long line of quirky features Google has embedded in its products. Zombies, soccer moms... Is there really that much difference?

Swiped from Cracked: "That's 300 percent more phallic than an actual penis."
Let's get an actual story about one possible eschaton up on the blog that is supposedly, but not really, about eschatology...  (Or is it?)
7 Famous Zombie Movie Weapons (That Would Get You Killed) | Cracked.com:
Zombies are the best imaginary enemy because they let you indulge in psychotic fantasies while still pretending to be the good guy. You're not a demented serial killer, you HAVE to slaughter your way through the crowds of people you see every day! Except they're all brain-damaged and incapable of teamwork! That's less sporting than an ice hockey team versus a figure skater, and even more fun. But it's only fun because, like all daydreams, you only imagine the good bits. Very few people daydream about their own failures and pointless unnoticed deaths (and those that do are safely channeled into reality TV). Here's how seven spectacular anti-zombie weapons will get you killed.

How to tell the difference between zombies and babies

An important guide, because mothers love you for hitting one with a chainsaw, not so much the other.

Who really needs a phone that can talk to you if no one else will?

I do not have a smart phone.  Actually, after losing my phone about a week ago, I don't have a phone at all right now.  But next week I am looking at getting a new one and I might upgrade to a smart phone.  Not an Apple, but something a little more advanced than a phone that was just a phone.  Do they even make those any more?  My big concession the last time out was texting abilities...

The iPhone 4S?  Way more phone than an old Luddite like myself needs.
Siri, Seriously: 10 Ways We're Really Using Apple's Voice Assistant [POLL]: "But once the novelty has worn off, will you really use Siri in your everyday life — or will she fade into the background, an unwanted extra like Apple’s previous iPhone voice control feature? After using the 4S for more than a week, I think Siri will enter our lives in small but vital ways. Most of these are things you could do before, but that required too many cumbersome steps that Siri can easily overcome."

iPhone 4S: Siri Politely Answers 10 Absurd Questions [PICS]: "What happened when we put the iPhone 4S’s (somewhat) intelligent agent Siri on the spot, asking her absurd questions? You’d be surprised."

A potato in the pants & Werner Herzog reading "Go the F**k to Sleep"

Tonight it is actually not them, but me.  The last few nights?

The big one claimed a potato mysteriously materialized in his pajama pants.  Then he produced the potato.  It is sitting on the kitchen counter now.  Friday night, he saw it there while I was cooking dinner and asked what I was going to do with it.

I answered, "Cook it up and serve it to you!"  He looked shocked.  I said, "Well, then...  Don't go putting perfectly good food in your pants then if you don't plan on eating it later."

Comic: Very happy I do not have daughters...

My boys still accuse me of being Darth Vader.

A few years ago the little one found the big one's Darth Vader helmet in the closet where it was hiding neglected...

He came running out to the living room holding the helmet and screaming, "I knew it!  You are Darth Vader.  You wear all black and now I found THIS!"
